RAW Exhibits

The RAW exhibits that I experienced were group A and also the whole class passing out skit. When it came to group A I believe that their display case was effective. It was filled with beer cans and topless Barbie dolls with various facts about binge drinking. The only thing I could think that they could have done to make it better would have to be maybe putting a strobe light in the case to grab people’s attention. I did see a number of people just walking by and not even looking in the case. If I didn’t go there with the intention of finding the case I most likely would have passed it by. But overall, the display case was done very well and my hats off to group A.

The passing out skit I think was a very effective exercise because you had a ton of people out of nowhere drop to the ground and stay there for a length of time. While everyone was “passed out” you had Chris from the Wellness Center walking around giving cold hard facts on the dangers of binge drinking. When it comes to doing anything to make it better, maybe we could have done this when there were more students around who were not part of the skit.

In general I think doing all these activities will raise more awareness about binge drinking and whether or not it will help them make responsible decisions while they are drinking is really up to them. I personally believe that it takes something to hit home with a person or that person needs to have a real life experience before they will begin to make responsible decisions in the future when they drink. Hopefully though people became more aware and will think and act more responsible the next time they are to have a night of binge drinking.

Thoughtful Purchase

When I look around my room and think about what exactly I put some thought into before I purchased that product, my JVC 32” T.V. comes to mind. Now this purchase happened almost 8 years ago well before the flat screen and HD/plasma T.V. boom, but this was a purchase that I did some major researching in before the purchase. The 5 things that come to mind when I think JVC is quality, durability, style, craftsmanship and simple. What shaped my existing perception about this brand was that a friend of mine had just bought a T.V. at the time and within a month or so he was already having problems with it. I went to Circuit City and spoke with the salesman and he pretty much sold me on the JVC, telling me that for the money I was looking to spend that this brand would give me the most bang for my buck. After visiting brandtags.net I was shocked to see that JVC wasn’t even on their site. All I can say for the brand is that I’m very pleased with my purchase, my T.V. still has great sound, picture quality and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down in the future. I would recommend to all that if your interested in purchasing a new T.V. I would definitely consider looking into the JVC brand for your next purchase.

Favorite Ad

I've chosen this ad by AT&T for the GoPhone as my favorite because it cracks me up every time I see it on T.V. The ad stars music legend Meat Loaf and 80’s pop idol Tiffany as the father and mother of a son, played by Adam Cagley, who wants his parents to purchase him AT&T’s GoPhone. The song they sing is very catchy and funny at the same time, the production of the commercial is something out of a Meat Loaf music video. What catches my attention very quickly is in the beginning of the song, as Meat Loaf beings to make things explode like the trash can, and the look on his son’s face at the :18 sec mark is classic. The ad hasn’t made me want to buy or use this product because I currently have a pretty good cell phone plan, however anytime I’m in a store and I see a GoPhone, this song and commercial are thought of immediately. I believe this is an effective ad because of the reason I just said, it sticks in your head. It’s catchy, funny and something different, something that I know I’ve never seen done before and for those reasons that’s why I’ve chose this ad as my favorite ad on T.V. today.

Goals for the semester

My goals for this semester are simple; I plan to pass all of my classes. I hope that I will not only just pass but I hope that I will pass with flying colors. If I could get straight A’s in all six of my classes this semester I will have shocked myself and at the same time have made myself very proud in the process. It’s going to be a tough semester this I all ready know, but I think I’m up for the challenge and I’m excited to get things underway.
