Favorite Ad
I've chosen this ad by AT&T for the GoPhone as my favorite because it cracks me up every time I see it on T.V. The ad stars music legend Meat Loaf and 80’s pop idol Tiffany as the father and mother of a son, played by Adam Cagley, who wants his parents to purchase him AT&T’s GoPhone. The song they sing is very catchy and funny at the same time, the production of the commercial is something out of a Meat Loaf music video. What catches my attention very quickly is in the beginning of the song, as Meat Loaf beings to make things explode like the trash can, and the look on his son’s face at the :18 sec mark is classic. The ad hasn’t made me want to buy or use this product because I currently have a pretty good cell phone plan, however anytime I’m in a store and I see a GoPhone, this song and commercial are thought of immediately. I believe this is an effective ad because of the reason I just said, it sticks in your head. It’s catchy, funny and something different, something that I know I’ve never seen done before and for those reasons that’s why I’ve chose this ad as my favorite ad on T.V. today.

I was never a real big fan of this ad when it first came out, but now that I know a little more, I am a bit of a fan. I would agree with you that the ad just sticks with people. Nice choice.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen this ad before. I have to admit it is pretty clever. It is a little long for me though, I kind of lost interst after about 45 seconds.
ReplyDeleteThis ad will stay in peoples mind and is also clever and funny so it is entertaining to watch.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this ad, but seeing the extended version makes the add come off as a little superfluous. When I saw it in the past, it made me laugh, but it didn't make me want to buy their product.
ReplyDeleteI have seen this ad so many times, and just watching it, its gets annoying. Im sorry, maybe its just the AT&T commericals that I dont like. I also think this ad is too long. But hey AT&T must be doing something right, if i constanstly see this commerical on television everywhere!
ReplyDeleteThis add cracks me up too, I'm also a big Meat Loaf fan, it didn't make me want to buy their product, but I do associate a GoPhone with the song now.
ReplyDeleteThe first time that I saw this commercial on TV, I was with my mom. She absolutely LOVES Meatloaf. She knew the song he was singing and everything. I think it's a good ad and a good choice.
